Privacy Policy

This policy explains what WaveHey stores about you, why, how long we keep it, and what you can do about it. We follow India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and the IT Rules, 2021.

What we store

• Account: your email, a scrambled copy of your password (never the password itself), your date of birth, and whether your email is confirmed.
• Google sign-in: if you use Continue with Google, we receive your name, email address and a Google account number from Google. We do not get your Google password, contacts or anything else.
• Profile: your display name, gender, country, languages, and interests.
• Matches: who was paired, the mode, and when the call started and ended.
• Safety: blocks, and reports with the reason picked, the time, and the match. Admin decisions on reports, such as a warning or a ban.
• Coins: your balance and a list of changes. We never store card numbers.
• Security: failed sign-ins, and a scrambled code made from your network address when you sign up, so bots cannot make many accounts.

What we do not store

We do not record video or audio. Chat messages stay in the live call and are gone when it ends, so reports never include the conversation. We do not sell your data and do not show ads based on your activity.

Why we use it

• to run your account and sign you in
• to match you with people, and to apply the filters you choose
• to keep people safe: check age, handle reports, and stop abuse and spam
• to keep your coin balance correct
• to send account emails, such as confirming your email or resetting your password

Who else sees it

The person you are matched with sees your display name and your video, audio, and messages during the call. Video calls pass through our video service, and account emails go through our email service. They only handle it to deliver the call or the email. We share data with the police or a court only when the law requires it.

How long we keep it

• account, profile, matches, coins, and safety records: until you delete your account
• failed sign-ins and error records: 30 days
• sign-up network codes: 1 day
• email links: they stop working after 24 hours or 60 minutes, and are deleted a day later
• backups: up to 14 days, then deleted

Cookies

We use only the cookies the site needs: one that keeps you signed in, and one that remembers your time zone to show prices in your currency. There are no advertising or tracking cookies.

Your rights

• See and correct your details on the Profile page.
• Delete your account at any time from Settings. This removes your login, profile, coins, and matches.
• Ask for a copy of your data, or complain about how we use it, using the contact below.

Age

WaveHey is only for people 18 and older. We ask for your date of birth at sign-up and refuse anyone younger. If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 18, we delete it.

Security

Passwords are stored scrambled. Sign-in cookies are signed so they cannot be faked. Database copies are kept private. No system is perfect, so use a password you do not use anywhere else.

Grievance Officer and contact

To report a person, use Report during the call. For anything about your account or your data, use the Account page.

Changes

If we change this policy, the date at the top changes. For a big change, we will tell you on the site before it applies. The rules for how to treat people are in the community guidelines and the Terms of Service.
